Keep Austin Weird

My wife and I have always enjoyed Austin.  The food, music, the scenery of the Hill country and the people.  It’s different.  But as people move in the city begins to change and become more like Anytown, USA.  The chain stores make towns lose their identity.

Weird

The word means different, not like everyone else.

Holy

The word Holy means set apart, not like everyone else.

Here in the good ‘Ole  USA we stress that you must be like EVERYONE else.  Dress like them, have the same kind of houses, toys, cars, stuff, music…. If you don’t “your weird.”

Wait a second maybe it’s a good thing to be weird?  In some ways weird means the same as holy today.  We are commanded to be weird, be holy, not like everyone else.  Don’t do as the others do.

So many churches look no different than the world around them.  Why?  They are not willing to be weird, holy, set a part.

When HE comes again.

Who do you think He will be looking for?

Conformity?

Or will he be looking for those FEW that don’t follow what EVERYONE else is doing?
