The Mark of the Father

The Mark of our Father

At creation a precedent was set that the Sabbath was to be a day of rest, a foreshadowing of the true rest to follow.  A rest in which there will be no end, the rest of rest, the Sabbaths of all Sabbaths. That’s the one I want to be apart of.

For thousands of years in the scriptures the Sabbath was commanded to be kept. When it was not kept bad things happen to the congregation.  They stopped keeping the mark=Torah, plagues, famine, conquering kings, death… came upon them until they repented and turn  from their missing the mark-AKA not following Torah.  Most of you are not new to this idea. It dominates many books of the Old Testament. The Sabbath was a BIG deal.

If it was meant to be changed to another day, don’t you think it would have been denoted in the red words of Jesus?  Wouldn’t He have said, “You have heard that the Sabbath was on Saturday, from now on it will be Sunday, or whatever day you want to make it, amen!” Since that seems so consistent to the body of the text.  He spends THOUSANDS of years saying KEEP the Torah and you will be blessed.  Don’t do as the Pagans do, do what I ask you to do, exactly in detail to what I have ask.  The Bible paints a pretty clear picture of what happens to people that do just whatever they feel like because it seemed right in their own eyes.

  • Cain
  • Nadab and Abihu
  • Uzzah
  • Ananias and Sapphira

All examples of people who tried out the logic, “it’s what I make it to be, It’s how I decided it’s going to be in my heart”  Hum, pretty clear to me that this is not a healthy path to stay on.

Jesus NEVER changes the Sabbath. He keeped it.  Don’t you think if He wanted it changed he would have said something?  It’s kind of a HUGE deal.

The Sabbath is the mark that shows the Father we are His.

12 Then the Lord said to Moses, 13 “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy.

14 “‘Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do any work on that day must be cut off from their people. 15 For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death. 16 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. 17 It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’”

How long do we have to keep the Sabbath?  OOh it says Forever, how long is that?  I am certain if that changed Jesus would have said something.  Jesus would have been caught not keeping the Sabbath. He would have been out doing caperterny work and someone would have said “Why is it we see you out doing this work on the Sabbath? What say you?”  And He would have replied, ” A new command I give you today keep the Sunday sacred as a day of worship.”  He NEVER says this.

So how did we get here?

A.D. 338, Eusebius, the court bishop of Constantine, wrote, “All things whatsoever that it was the duty to do on the Sabbath (the seventh day of the week) we (Constantine, Eusebius, and other bishops) have transferred to the Lord’s Day (the first day of the week) as more appropriately belonging to it.”

Thank you Rome. So if you follow Sunday, you follow Rome, If you follow Sabbath, you follow the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So what is it?

Research it

Help me out. The phrase “Mia Sabbaton”   seems to be “on one of the sabbaths”.  Many argue that it means the first day of the week.  I say we must let scripture interpret scripture.  When you study the Strongs G3391 it appears that
