Wow, we are already at January! Where has the time gone?
Yahuah defined the New Year as beginning at Passover time. The Julian Calendar agreed. It was commonly accepted by all that the Spring was the beginning of the year.
Everything begins. The trees bud, the grass grows, you plant a garden, you get outside more… It makes total sense. More sense that making the dead of winter, the least amount of sunshine the beginning of the new year. Unless you are doing this to line up Winter Solstice.
There is little doubt that Pope Gregory created a more accurate calendar than the Julian.
April Fools Day made fun of those that tried to declare that spring was the beginning of the year. Hebrews would be among this group. Traditionally it has not been a good day for the Jewish people.
April 1 was also the date, in 1933, on which the newly installed Nazi government in Germany issued its first boycott against Jewish businesses and Jewish professionals. Yellow and black Jewish stars were painted on doors and windows of Jewish offices, businesses and homes across Germany. Signs warning “Don’t buy from Jews” and “Jews are our misfortune” were posted throughout the country. Special police officers stood in front of Jewish businesses to enforce the boycott. They did nothing to intervene when violence broke out and Jews were beaten and harassed. This boycott was called for one day only, but it was so enthusiastically received that the April 1, 1933 boycott was extended the following week, when Jews were expelled from civil service jobs in Germany; more discrimination soon followed.

To the rest of the world the idea of a “Hebrew Calendar” is a foreign concept and they don’t understand how we could possible be so foolish. I don’t see how I can’t be anything but a fool for Yeshua and His ways!
If you have never studied the calendar, now is the time.
What did the Torah say about the new year?
